Ohio Pork donates more than $5,000 to Cleveland-based food bank

The president of the Ohio Pork Council says the organization is helping address food insecurity through its annual Pork Power initiative.
Nathan Schroeder says producers recently donated more than $5,000 to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
“For every dollar that is donated to a food bank, it returns four dollars,” he says. “Pork is a very low-fat, nutrient dense meat. It’s also one of the most affordable proteins out there. It truly is a win-win for farmers and families.”
He tells Brownfield this is just one way to highlight the industry’s We Care principles.
“This is what we do,” he says. “We provide food for families. We want to go out there and give back in any way, shape, or form that we can.”
The Ohio Pork Council’s Pork Power initiative was established in 2009 and helps provide high-quality protein to communities in need.
