Ohio Pork focused on consumer outreach in 2025

The president of the Ohio Pork Council says the association remains focused on growing domestic demand for pork.

Nathan Schroeder says one of the biggest challenges is addressing misconceptions about the product.

“You look at pork and a lot of people don’t think it’s healthy,” he says. ” We’re on of the healthiest options out there. So, we’re trying to get over that stigma and get information out there into our consumers. We’re trying to come up with a good way to get that knowledge to our consumers.”

He tells Brownfield pork demand grew in 2024.

“With the work we’re doing in Ohio and the work they’re doing on national stages; I think pork demand is going to keep climbing as more and more people find out it is one of the best cuts of meat you’ll have,” he says. “I look forward to more consumption in this this state and the whole country.”

Schroeder says Ohio Pork is developing several education programs coming out later this year to continue reaching consumers and increase consumption.
