Ohio receives USDA grant
Ohio is one of 21 states to be awarded a USDA grant to install as many as 100 flex-fuel pumps across the state, giving consumers more renewable fuel options.
A partnership between the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) and the Ohio Corn Marketing Program (OCMP) has received a $3.4 million grant from the USDA’s Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership (BIP) to provide the infrastructure that will provide higher blends of ethanol.
Tadd Nicholson, Executive Director of the corn marketing program, says a big barrier for growing demand for ethanol has been the lack of infrastructure.
“This grant from USDA is an excellent shot in the arm,” said Nicholson. “Allowing Ohio to combine efforts with a number of partners, the corn checkoff, Ohio Department of Agriculture and several fuel companies from around the state.”
