Ohio Christmas Tree Growers are not only gearing up for the holidays at home, they took time on Thursday to send trees to troops.

Valerie Graham, Executive Director of the Ohio Christmas Tree Association tells Brownfield Operation Evergreen has been going on since 1995.

“These are trees that are being shipped overseas,” Graham said. “The shipment that we put together at the Ohio Department of Agriculture yesterday (Thursday, November 13), will actually be shipped to Kuwait and Afghanistan.”

Valerie says the trees packed on Thursday will take around two weeks for the trees to arrive to the troops.

In addition to the trees, Valerie says local school children, churches and veteran’s groups have been working on decorations so that the trees have everything needed to celebrate the holidays.
