Opportune time to evaluate soybean stands
An extension soybean agronomist says this is an opportune time to evaluate stands.
Seth Naeve is with the University of Minnesota.
“Now that we have soybeans emerging everywhere, make sure they’ve got stands everywhere and every field.”
He tells Brownfield for most farmers it’s not too late to replant.
“Especially spots or portions of fields, this is the time. And there were some problems with (germination) in some soybeans, so if stands are thin there’s still an opportunity to spike in some soybeans or replant some areas.”
Naeve says timing is crucial as the yield hit from planting delays will accelerate rapidly this month.
