Opportunities to advance biofuels production in Indiana
The director of state governmental affairs for Clean Fuels Alliance America says there is opportunity to grow Indiana’s biofuels industry.
Jeff Earl says existing infrastructure and rising demand puts the state in a prime position for expansion.
“We’re seeing it all over the country where states are wanting to prioritize renewable fuels,” he says. “We have the largest biodiesel plant in the United States here in Indiana. You have the OEM support here and you have the ag support. There’s a lot of ways for things to align in the future.”
He tells Brownfield there is an effort to expand biofuels production across the country. Earl says it starts by raising Renewable Volume Obligations under the Renewable Fuel Standard.
“The stars are really aligning right now because you have the ag community, the biofuels producers, and even the petroleum side of things all aligned on this 5.25-billion-gallon RVO request that we’ve sent to the EPA,” he says.
Brownfield interviewed Earl during the 2025 High Performance Low Carbon Liquid Fuels Summit.
