Optimism grows for year-round E15, says SD corn leader
The president of the South Dakota Corn Growers Association says he’s optimistic Congress can pass year-round, nationwide sales of E15 this year.
Taylor Sumption tells Brownfield “as a farmer, you have to be an optimist.”
Sumption says ethanol policy was part of the discussion for the South Dakota Corn Conference on Saturday. He also says South Dakota Corn is also celebrating 40 years.
“South Dakota Corn was born out of the 80s farm crisis,” he says. “Kind of trying to find expanded markets for corn, trying to turn around the hard times.”
Sumption says the South Dakota Corn Growers Association and South Dakota Corn Utilization Council have made a difference for the state’s farmers in many ways, including investing in ethanol research and advocacy to create a new market for the state’s corn farmers.
He says the organizations continue to adapt to meet farmer’s needs as U.S. agriculture evolves.
