Overseas demand continues to support U.S. beef and pork profitability
A member of the U.S. Meat Export Federation’s executive committee says he’s optimistic about the future of U.S. beef and pork exports.
Matt Schuiteman tells Brownfield, “We’re in a cycle of profitability right now for both of those species. But you can see quickly that if we didn’t have overseas markets, the profitability wouldn’t be there.”
He says the U.S. produces a high-quality product which has attracted new customers.
“There are people all over the world that have really developed a taste for our products. Our meat products across the world are high quality and they are desired. Even as the prices, especially of beef, have gone up, we see people in all countries still coming to the market.”
Schuiteman says Canada and Mexico continue to be two of the top markets for U.S. producers.
