Pasture and crops advance in MO with the warm, wet weather
Above average temperatures and moisture in Missouri the final week of April helped green up pastures and encouraged crop emergence.
USDA says 31 percent of the state’s corn emerged, more than double the previous week with corn planting at 54 percent complete. Forty percent of the state’s rice crop has emerged with planting at 59 percent complete.
Soybean planting is 28 percent complete, ahead of average, with nine percent of soybeans emerged. One percent of the state’s cotton is starting to pop out of the ground, with 17 percent of the state’s cotton planting complete.
Pasture conditions are 84 percent good to excellent, an improvement of four percentage points from the previous week. Winter wheat conditions are rated 76 percent good to excellent.
