PepsiCo says farmer partnerships are key to making progress toward 2030 regenerative agriculture goals

PepsiCo is making progress towards implementing 10 million acres of regenerative agriculture globally by 2030.

Margaret Henry, vice president of sustainable and regenerative agriculture, says farmers are seeing the long-term benefits of soil health management.

“Farmers that have been using regenerative practices are helping ensure that the soil, water, and biodiversity on that farm can support a more optimized input system and improve productivity at the same time,” she says.

PepsiCo’s Regenerative Agriculture 2030 Plan aims to build soil health, reduce emissions, enhance watershed health, increase biodiversity, and improve farmer profitability.

Henry tells Brownfield the company is collaborating with industries throughout the food supply chain to help farmers adopt new conservation practices.

“There are real challenges to improving traceability and expanding access to technology,” she says. “We want to be part of a positive force that’s helping make the whole ecosystem around a farmer that is better able to support a sustainable and a regenerative transition.”

Henry says addressing long-term access barriers remains critical as more farmers look to incorporate regenerative practices on their operations.
