Perdue announces workforce reduction at southern Indiana poultry plant

Perdue Farms has announced plans to lay off approximately 300 workers at its Washington, Indiana poultry plant next month.

In a letter to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the company said it intends to permanently eliminate its second shift. 

The final day for affected employees will be October 10th, but employees will receive pay and benefits through November 2nd.

Perdue Farms is the seventh largest turkey producer in the U.S.
