Peru’s ag minister visits Indiana to discuss trade expansion
Peru and the U.S. continue to enhance trade between the two countries.
Through his interpreter, Director of Agriculture H.E. Ángel Manuel Manero Campos says the two countries have established a long-standing relationship.
“Right now we import about $15 billion,” he said. “The countries complement each other because Peru exports fruits and vegetables in in buys from the US corn, soy, and milk products.”
The minister said there is an opportunity to increase trade volume between the two countries.
“Our imports are going to increase about 10% every year and we hope that with the US we can work together to be able to build exports,” he said.
Indiana Director of Ag Don Lamb and Indiana Corn and Soybean CEO Courtney Kingrey emphasized the need to further expand export opportunities with the country during the delegation. They said the quality of Indiana corn and soybeans sets them apart on a global scale.
The visit was arranged by the U.S. Soybean Export Council.
