Philippines’ move toward E20 could boost demand for U.S. corn, ethanol
A southwest Ohio farmer says higher blends of ethanol in the Philippines could increase demand for U.S corn farmers.
Karyn Forman tells Brownfield, “Currently, US ethanol is being blended with Philippines produced ethanol to meet their E10 mandate,” she says. “A move to E20 would equate to a demand of 360 million gallons of ethanol.”
She says a recent trade mission highlighted the importance of long-standing relationships.
“They realize that American corn is high quality and it’s also something that they want,” she says. “We’re out there meeting them, building trust. We’re showing the reliability of Ohio corn and US corn, which ultimately helps expand and strengthen our markets going forward.”
Forman says quality, sustainability, and consistency will continue to be critical components in future trade discussions.
