Pioneer launches Plenish Enlist E3 soybeans

The marketing manager with Pioneer’s Plenish high oleic soybeans says both growers and dairy producers will benefit from the company’s latest innovation.

Roger Theisen says the specialty beans are now available with the Enlist E3 trait.

“That is the number one herbicide trait used in soybean acres across the U.S.”  He says, “Now I can go to farmers that maybe had hard to control weeds or weed resistant issues that they couldn’t handle with glyphosate, and they can potentially realize premium opportunities on their acres.”

Theisen says Plenish high oleic soybean varieties are grown and marketed under identity-preserved contract programs, and farmers receive food-grade premiums from participating processors or elevators.  He tells Brownfield the new varieties expand access to the beans, which are also increasingly being used in on-farm dairy feeding.

“Nutritionists are replacing some of the fat that they were using in those.”  He says, “They’re seeing an increase in their milk fat and protein. They get paid premiums on those if they’re high, and they’re seeing a decrease in their ration costs.”

Theisen says three new Plenish high oleic Enlist E3 varieties are available in a targeted launch in 2025 and 2026 with broad availability expected in 2027.
