Pioneer leader highlights top-performing areas in 2025 corn harvest

Areas that benefited the most from good weather during the growing season are being revealed during harvest.

Pioneer U.S. marketing leader for corn Brandon Walter says if there’s a “garden spot” in the Midwest this year, southern Minnesota could be it.

“I’ve heard great comments of how conditions have been there. Portions of eastern Nebraska have looked good where maybe we’ve avoided some winds, at least in some cases. Northern Illinois appears to be very strong as well.”

But he tells Brownfield even those geographies struggled with disease pressure.

“There could be some areas where we’re going to see significant corn bushels, probably more than any farmer has seen before. And maybe a couple miles down the road another farmer or even that same farmer could be experiencing pretty disappointing yields compared to maybe expectations from where we were earlier this summer.”

Walter encourages farmers to apply lessons from this year’s crop as decisions are made for 2026.
