Poley to lead Michigan Corn
The Corn Marketing Program of Michigan has announced a new Interim Executive Director.
Kristin Poley previously served as the organization’s research and agronomy director.
“During this transition, we remain completely committed to our mission of working together to enhance the economic position of Michigan’s corn growers,” she says.
Poley tells Brownfield corn harvest is just starting across the state.
“The dry conditions probably did chip away a little bit at our yield estimates from August when we were getting timely rains,” she shares. “We are seeing tar spot come in and make a little bit of an impact in certain parts of the states, but overall still expecting a strong corn yield this year.”
Poley says earmold hasn’t been an issue like last year, but farmers should keep scouting for damage to prioritize where to harvest first.
Michigan Corn will be hosting European livestock producers and grain buyers later this month to highlight the ethanol supply chain as part of the U.S. Grain Council’s Export Exchange.
