Pork Board to launch ad campaign on safety of pork
The National Pork Board will launch a national media advertising campaign next week, assuring consumers that pork is safe.
The advertising will betargeted to major daily newspapers and a variety of internet-based media. The campaign will also utilize public relations, making food safety and nutrition experts available to TV stations and other media.
Daily consumer tracking research this week shows more than 8 out of10 consumers continue to believe pork is safe to eat. And among consumers who have purchased pork products recently, more than 9 in 10 believe it is safe. But Pork Board CEO Chris Novak says additional work needs to be done to provide assurances to consumers.
In additionto the safety message, Novak says, the advertising will also remind consumers about the nutritional benefits gained from eating pork.
