Possible New World screwworm detected in Texas, USDA confirms testing underway

The USDA says it is testing to confirm a possible case of New World screwworm that was found inside the United States. 

In a post on X, the department said a case may have been detected in South Texas.  The department says the sample has been sent to the National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames, Iowa.

USDA says personnel have been activated on the ground and it is working with its local partners.
