Precision Planting launches new planting system

Precision Planting has launched its new planting system to help farmers optimize performance.

Caleb Schleder, director of technical services and support says CornerStone is everything but the planter bar. “Some of the things that set it apart are the design features,” he says.  “One would be the fact that it has trailing gauge wheels. Then you start thinking through some of the adjustability things we’ve done in order to make it easier to adjust and not spend so much time preparing for that first pass in the season and still getting it done right.”

The system is compatible with all standard-height 7×7 planter bars and comes fully integrated with Precision Planting technologies that will allow farmers to customize their planter. He tells Brownfield the company’s research found that by utilizing trailing gauge wheels, there was a lot less shock at planting, which improved performance.  “We measured the vertical acceleration force, and what we found is that the row-unit ride is way more consistent when you have trailing gauge wheels than what you would see on leading gauge wheels,” he says.

The CornerStone Planting System is currently in beta testing.  Schleder says that with successful field trials this spring, a commercial launch for dealers and farmers is anticipated in 2025.
