Propane powers more than grain dryers

Propane provided by the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) is powering the air conditioning in the media tent and the hospitality tent at the 2026 Farm Progress Show. Michael Newland, Director of Agriculture Business Development for the Propane Education and Research Council sat down with Brownfield to talk about the increasing applications of propane as the prime power instead of a back-up power. Farmers are using propane for power generation, irrigation, grain drying, building and water heating and even as organic soil treatment.

Newland says there is no shortage of propane and it is currently used on more than 800,000 farms in the U.S.

Newland talks about ongoing research, price stability and safety of propane.
