Protect the Harvest ceasing operations
A non-profit that has promoted and defended agriculture for more than a decade is shuttering its operations. Protect the Harvest has announced it will end its 13 years of advocacy on October 31, 2024, due to ongoing funding challenges.
Since 2011, the organization has focused on informing stakeholders about important issues and doing its part to protect the industry against activists and misinformation.
Executive director Dr. Mike Siemens says funding shortages began during the COVID-19 pandemic, and financial support has declined in recent economic times.
Forrest Lucas, founder and chairman, says the organization has accomplished a lot in its 13 years, but “the time has come to pass the torch to others.
The Protect the Harvest website and social media platforms will be deactivated by the end of the year.
