Provysol could offer more control with additional EPA approvals

Specialty crop growers battling powdery mildew and cercospora leaf spot will have an additional disease management tool at the ready earlier in the season following additional EPA approvals.

Technical service representative Ken Deivert with BASF says while Provysol has been available to growers since 2019, it can now be used during a larger window preharvest in sugarbeets and has fewer restrictions when rotating from other crops including cotton, rice, sunflowers, and alfalfa.

“Stay on top of this disease,” he says.  “We’ve seen some phenomenal results when things are done right, in my opinion, when we’re not stretching those windows out too far.”

EPA has also approved the fungicide in additional fruiting vegetables and cucurbits for early season control in low-growing plants.

BASF’s Cevya fungicide has also recently received additional crop registrations for use on berries, cucurbits and bulb, fruiting and root vegetables.
