Pseudorabies-infected wild pig found in Nebraska
The discovery near Genoa, Nebraska of a wild pig infected with pseudorabies is being investigatedby the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. And the Nebraska Department of Agriculture is contacting hog producers in the Genoa area to advise them of preventative measures.
NDA says producers can consider several options to avoid the disease. They include vaccinatingstock, following strict biosecurity measures on their farms, and minimizing contact with wildlife and rodents.
A similar outbreak of pseudorabies was discovered in the same area in early 2007. Genoa is west of Columbus in east-central Nebraska.
