Purdue College of Agriculture eliminates its ASEC Department and Agricultural Communication major

Purdue University has eliminated its Department of Agricultural Sciences Education and Communication.
In a statement to alumni, the College of Agriculture says the move was made because of a new Indiana State law. Purdue’s Agricultural Education program will continue to be offered to undergraduates in the College of Agriculture. Students majoring in Agricultural and Natural Resources Communication will be allowed to continue in the major and graduate, but no future students will be admitted into the major.
As a part of the Indiana General Assembly’s 2025-2027 state budget, some educational programs throughout the state have been required to restructure or be eliminated. Purdue says there are currently no plans to close any other departments or majors within the College of Agriculture.
The college will no longer be admitting graduate students into the ASEC department for the fall semester.
