Rain and sunshine for the Delta heading into August

An ag meteorologist says a mix of rain and sunshine is expected in the next 10 days to two weeks in the Delta.

Drew Lerner with World Weather Incorporated says “it got a little wet across the Delta for awhile and we’ll get away from some of that as we slow down the occurrence of rain. There might be a few days of dry weather coming up and that will help quite a bit. Then, we’ll go back into a pattern of scattered daily showers.”

Lerner says the key for the Delta in August, like the Midwest, will be what happens in the tropics.

“We do have the potential for the northwest half of the Delta to get caught up in some of that drying that’s going to occur in the plains so there’s potential some of the Delta could turn too dry in the middle to latter part of August.”

But he says a storm system moving into the Gulf of Mexico could change that outlook.
