Rain on the way, Naig says

Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says some harvest delays are expected this week with rain in the forecast for much of the state.

“We are seeing some of that rain that we desperately need, but it’s coming at a time that it does idle some combines. I know there’s some frustration out there with that.”

He tells Brownfield it’s been a steady harvest season up to this point. “I’m hearing about really good progress. Folks are working very diligently when they can. We continue to hear folks saying that yields are better than expected and I certainly love to hear that.”

But, Naig says it’s been more of a challenge for areas impacted by severe drought conditions throughout the growing season.
