Rains help ease moisture concerns in southern Iowa

The latest crop progress report for Iowa says recent rains are helping to ease moisture concerns across much of southern Iowa, although soil moisture levels remain mostly short to very short in many south-central and southeast counties.

Iowa’s corn and soybean crops continue to run about a week ahead of normal. As of Sunday, 15 percent of the corn crop was mature and almost one-third of the soybean crop was coloring with four percent dropping leaves.

Pasture conditions improved to 47 percent good to excellent.
