Rally a good starting point
The Farm Bill Now Rally generated a buzz in Washington, D.C., the question is how much of a buzz around the halls of Congress, particularly in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Minnesota Congressman and Ranking Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee Collin Peterson on hand to helping kick off the Farm Bill Now Rally on Wednesday said the event was a good starting point.
“Having this rally isn’t going to change the members that are giving us the problem,” Peterson said. “They need to get 100 or 200 calls from their constituents, that makes a difference and that’s what needs to happen.”
Of those Brownfield spoke with, the most optimistic may have been Congressman Rick Berg of North Dakota.
“I feel the last 24 hours it’s risen on everyone’s radar screen,” said the North Dakota Congressman.”I think people are starting to understand in the House that we need to address this, that’s my focus,”
And even with a limited number of days left in the session, Collin Peterson says there’s time.
“It only takes two days to pass this bill, they aren’t doing anything else so they could do it, if they wanted to.”
