Randy Feenstra calls E15 vote a “huge deal” for farmers

The chair of the Rural Domestic Energy Council in the U.S. House is celebrating House passage of nationwide year-round E15 legislation.

Iowa Republican Randy Feenstra tells Brownfield.

“I’m just so excited, I’m so excited for the farming community. We’ve been working at this for a decade, and finally to get it passed in the U.S. House, this is a big deal. And working with Senate leadership and working with the administration, I think we’re going to get it over the finish line.”

He says E15 lowers gas prices for consumers.

“But for our farming community, it probably increases corn prices by 28 to 30 cents, it creates corn demand (of) 2.4 billion more bushels, it creates farm income at an increase of $13.8 billion. I mean this is a huge deal for our farming community.”

Feenstra says Senate leadership is encouraged by the bipartisan support E15 received in the House.
