Recognize Ohio Master Farmers

Two Ohio farmers focused on conservation will soon be recognized as master farmers.

John Barker is an Ohio State University Extension Educator and previous nominator.

“To be a master farmer, you have to be a very strong advocate for agriculture,” he tells Brownfield.  “You need to be someone who is willing to share those experience and who really wants to work with other people to help them better themselves.”

Winners are selected based on their on-farm management, innovation, conservation, leadership, and community involvement.

Nominations have been extended until October 15 with the awards presented during the Ohio Conservation Tillage and Technology Conference in March.

The Ohio Master Farmer awards are presented by Brownfield Ag News along with the Ohio Farmer online magazine and American Agriculturalist.
