Reconciliation, Prop 12, MAHA report among topics of AFBF fly-in
American Farm Bureau members discussed ag policy with members of Congress this week.
Minnesota Farm Bureau president Dan Glessing took part in the annual AFBF summer fly-in and tells Brownfield the Senate reconciliation bill somewhat resembles the House version.
“From what we’ve seen it’s not a lot different, and we’re still trying to digest what’s all in there and what the total savings is. There was quite a bit of different target between the House and the Senate when it comes to savings.”
He says the House reconciliation package made significant cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and Glessing doubts Senate Democrats will go for that.
“I don’t think that they’ll get a Democrat vote on it, quite honestly. Once it comes to this One Big Beautiful Bill that we always hear about, I don’t know that they’ll get a Democrat vote.”
Glessing says trade, Proposition 12, biofuels, and the Make America Healthy Again Commission report were other topics Farm Bureau members addressed with lawmakers.
