Record attendance at Swine Health Symposium

The Ohio Swine Health Symposium held on Wednesday, March 19, attracted a record attendance.

“Well it tells me that there is a lot of people interested in what’s going on today,” said State Veterinarian Dr. Tony Forshey. “And of course PED virus is one those things everyone has on their mind.”

When it comes to PEDv, Dr. Forshey compares it to the PRRS outbreak in the late ‘80s.

“And PRRS, here we are 35 years later and we still don’t have a control,” Dr. Forshey said. “The PED today certainly has certainly brought as much interest, or more than PRRS did back in 1987-88.”
