Reflecting on the year that was

Indiana Farm Bureau’s president Randy Kron says several policy issues took center stage for members in 2024.

“We’ve had some issues with the Salamonie Mills failure and we’re working together with other stakeholders to make sure we tweak the statue and hoping we can get some changes,” he says. “represented. “Representative Culp carried a bill on the farmland foreign ownership.”

He tells Brownfield the farm economy continues to be an area of concern. 

“Very tight margins, that’s a lot different than we’ve seen the last few years and trying to tighten the belt,” he says. “We’re probably going to pay more in property tax this year on our farm than we’re going to make in net profit.”

Kron says Indiana Farm Bureau will continue to advocate for the farmers both at the state and federal level.
