Rep. Bacon points to ag security, young farmer support in farm bill

U.S. Congressman Don Bacon says the House-passed farm bill is a win for rural communities.
“This is huge for Nebraska,” he said. “This is even huge for the second district.”
The Nebraska Republican says six of his bills made it into the final package.
“One of them is to help prevent China from buying farmland,” he said. “At least monitoring what they are doing with our farmland. Are they buying land near (military) bases? Also, I got a bill that helps young farmers get pre-approved loans so they can go to auctions and start becoming a farmer.”
Bacon says the farm bill also expands cybersecurity for agriculture.
“China, Russia, and criminals are increasingly targeting our farmers and agriculture industry.”
He adds that his amendment expanding funding for FFA and 4-H was included in the final bill.
