Rep. Hinson hears trade concerns at Iowa State Fair

A U.S. Representative from Iowa says ag trade has led the bulk of her discussions at the 2025 Iowa State Fair.

Republican Ashley Hinson says farmers and ranchers are asking for additional market access.

“Being on recess from Congress gave us a good opportunity to come back and talk about what we’ve gotten done for agriculture in the first eight months of the Trump administration,” Hinson said. “Passing the One Big Beautiful Bill into law, it has a lot of resources dedicated to market access.”

She tells Brownfield Brazil’s 18% tariff on ethanol imports has been another concern.

“We just need the fair access to that market,” Hinson said. “Brazil, unfortunately, has been able to take a lot of our market share. We need to be able to push back on that. I continue to share that feedback with USTR (US Trade Representative) and the administration.”

Hinson says the Trump administration has been working to secure new trade deals for growers.
