Rep. Hinson helps introduce Ending China’s Unfair Advantage Act

A U.S. Representative from Iowa says Congress needs to pass legislation that protects the nation’s food supply from foreign entities like China.

Republican Ashley Hinson recently helped introduce the Ending China’s Unfair Advantage Act, which she says would “prohibit American taxpayer dollars from funding a U.N. slush fund until China stops exploiting international trade loopholes.”

“We are really trying to target the ways in which China is seeking to undermine international trade laws, our ag and food supply chains, and continuing to spy on Americans in our own backyards.”

The legislation calls for the removal of China’s current designation as a “developing nation,” which allows the country to receive financial assistance and extended deadlines within international agreements.

Hinson says this bill comes after she recently co-authored the Securing American Agriculture Act, which directs the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to publish an annual assessment on U.S. dependency on critical ag products or inputs from the People’s Republic of China.
