Rep. Hinson outlines 2025 ag priorities

A U.S. Representative from Iowa says she’s focusing on several ag-related issues in 2025.

Republican Ashley Hinson says farmers will need more certainty when it comes to agricultural trade. “The past four years we’ve had an administration that has not prioritized trade and those opportunities for our producers,” she said. “I’m looking forward to working with the Trump administration and their team to help advance those priorities so Iowans have more access to markets.”

She tells Brownfield it could also be a big year for the biofuels industry. “We’re going to continue to fight for E15 year-round. That was a significant battle at the end of the year. That continues to be a priority.”

Late last year, Congress withdrew a provision from the Continuing Resolution that would have permanently allowed summertime sales of E15 across the U.S.

Hinson says the most important issue for farmers will be getting a new five-year farm bill passed before September.
