Researchers claim feed supplement reduces methane emissions
Some British researchers say they have developed a feed supplement, comprised of fruits and vegetables, that reduces methane emissions from cattle by at least 30 percent.
The researchers say the product, which is called Mootral, is the first “commercial, scalable solution to reduce methane emissions from cows”. They say it offers consumers the choice to help the environment while continuing to enjoy beef and dairy.
The research is being funded by Zaluvida, a Swiss-based company.
Scientists disagree on the exact relationship between livestock emissions and global warming concerns. Some claim it’s a big contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, but others say the impact is overstated.
