RFA concerned election outcome could impact certain biofuel tax credits
The Renewable Fuels Association is concerned some biofuel tax credits could be eliminated depending on the outcome of the presidential election.
RFA CEO Geoff Cooper says the Trump Campaign has pledged to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, but he’s encouraged to see more Republican members of Congress speaking in support of certain IRA programs including the 45Z sustainable aviation fuel credit.
“They’re seeing investment, or big plans for investment in their districts and states as a result of some of these IRA provisions. So we know those messages are getting through to the Trump Campaign.”
He tells Brownfield he’s optimistic a Trump administration would not throw the entire IRA program out the window.
“And claw back any unspent funding, and that they would take a more surgical and more discerning approach to the program. So that’s what we’re working on.”
Earlier this month Trump said he plans to rescind any unspent funds under the Inflation Reduction Act should he be elected.
Cooper made these comments during a call with reporters last week.
