RFA rep not expecting permanent E-15 standards this year
A representative with the Renewable Fuels Association says he doesn’t expect permanent standards for E-15 to be taken up by Congress this year.
Robert White tells Brownfield they will continue to push for year-round E-15.
“We remain vigilant working with our champions, especially those here in Nebraska and the surrounding states to push that at every opportunity,” he says. “Farm bill or continuing resolution whatever it is, if there’s an opportunity we need E-15 fast.”
He says RFA continues its work on renewable volume obligations, the annual targets set by the Environmental Protection Agency, for the amount of renewable fuels that must be blended into the nation’s fuel supply for the next three years.
“We’ve kind of been on a nice glide path with very limited small refinery exemptions, three years of volume obligation, so it avoided a lot of opportunities for mischief,” he says. “That time will come up again soon, so we’re staying on our toes and head on the swivel and make sure this industry is protected.”
White says the U.S. is expected to have record exports for renewable fuels this year.
Brownfield interviewed White during the 2024 Husker Harvest Days near Grand Island, Nebraska.
