A leader with the Renewable Fuels Association says he hopes a federal solution for year-round E15 will get prioritized now that the election is over.
Robert White, senior vice president of industry relations and market development, says there’s still time to get something passed before the end of the year.
“Before the election, no one wanted to do something that would give credit to the other party,” he said. “That’s unfortunately the way politics are nowadays. Now we’re looking at a potential lame duck opportunity potentially. Or, be first and foremost with the new Congress and be ready to get that legislation filed yet again and hopefully to the finish line.”
Speaking to Brownfield at the 2024 NAFB Convention in Kansas City, he said the first Trump administration showed support for E15.
“Obviously, he did a big event in Iowa announcing the year-round sale of E15,” White said. “Unfortunately, that was later struck down in the courts on how it was done. They basically said from any point forward it needs to be done legislatively. We still don’t have that done.”
White says some petroleum fuel retailers have supported a federal solution.
