RMA invests in education and training for farmers

USDA’s Risk Management Agency has announced up to $3 million is available to educate underserved agricultural producers about risk protection resources.

Administrator Marcia Bunger tells Brownfield, “This has really been a very concentrated effort internally by RMA to kind of scrape together dollars so that we can be part of much needed education around what is crop insurance, what can it do for you, bookkeeping skills and the like.”

Bunger says the funds will build off of Risk Management Education Partnerships created in 2021.

“Our partners typically have been universities, extension offices, and nonprofit organizations,” she explains.  “They develop educational tools that assist in training producers on how to effectively manage long-term risk.”

She says the agency can provide grant writing and technical assistance and help more organizations apply.  The deadline is March 4.
