Robotic ‘DroneDog’ gives farmers a new high-tech security option

The director of sales with Asylon (Ay-sih-lon) Robotics says some farmers are turning to a futuristic version of man’s best friend to protect their investments.

Kurt George says DroneDog is a robotic, automated security dog that can patrol grounds and monitor for threats in real time.

“It’s about the size of a German shepherd, and it has cameras, audio inputs, and sensors all the way around.”  He says, “It’s like a dog that’s walking around a perimeter, and it’s checking out equipment, looking at crops.”

He tells Brownfield…

“The DroneDog has, aptly named, a doghouse, and the dog remotely knows when to go back to the house for charging.”  He says, “The dog will go on patrol, and if it picks up an anomaly, it’ll send out a ping, and it will alert the farmer. It’s a robotic security guard. Every piece of data that it’s collecting, that’s all evidentiary.”

George says the system has also been used to help protect livestock from both theft and wildlife.
