Rodale Institute: Regenerative agriculture can help climate concerns

Agriculture can be part of the climate solution, according to a study by the Rodale Institute.

The institute analyzed new data about soil carbon sequestration to identify regenerative agriculture as a solution to climate challenges.

The report finds that that shifting both crop and pasture management to regenerative systems could drawdown more than 100 percent of annual carbon dioxide emissions.

Other key findings included that livestock can increase carbon sequestered in the soil with appropriate grazing management and crop yields in regenerative systems have shown to outcompete conventional yields

The Rodale Institute says eaters, farmers, and policymakers can make a difference by supporting and implementing regenerative practices and divesting from systems that destroy soil health.

The new paper builds on research published by Rodale Institute in 2014.
