Rollins rolls out new biofuels strategy to expand ethanol exports and grow renewable energy markets

The USDA has announced a new plan to chart a path forward for American renewable energy.
Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says the American Biofuels Trade Outlook has four key pillars, starting with efforts to increase on-road ethanol blending. “USDA will identify breakthrough markets like in Latin America and Southeast Asia,” she says. “They are prime for E10 adoption.”
She says the department will also address implementation challenges for other markets that already have E-10 access to ensure the U.S. has reliable access to existing export markets.
Rollins told attendees of the Growth Energy Biofuels Summit that the administration will work to remove restrictions other countries have placed on U.S. crop-based biofuels. “These restrictions hamstring growth opportunities for U.S. biofuels exports by limiting their potential uses,” she says. “It is essential that we open more markets to our U.S. biofuels for on-road transportation, for aviation, and for marine fuel markets.”
She says the USDA will also utilize its Market Access Programs and the America First Trade Promotion program to reach untapped markets and it will accelerate opportunities with international organizations to secure access for and fair treatment of U.S. biofuels.
Rollins says investing in biofuels strengthens energy security, supports farmers, creates jobs, and will advance American agriculture sustainability.
