SD corn planting reaches 93%

South Dakota corn and soybean planting are ahead of last year and the average.

As of Sunday, 93% of corn was planted with 55% emerged. Eighty-three percent of soybeans were planted with 28% emerged.

Spring wheat emergence is ahead at 87% with most of the crop in fair to good condition.

Winter wheat is in mostly fair to good conditions, with 20% poor.

Sorghum and sunflower planting are also ahead.

Neary 50% of pasture and range conditions are poor to very poor.

Sixty-six percent of subsoil moisture is rated short to very short.
