SD winter wheat planting ahead

Only five-percent of South Dakota’s corn has been harvested while 25 percent of soybean harvest was complete as of Sunday – both behind the five-year average. Rain last week mostly fell in the western part of the state.

Winter wheat planting is ahead of average at almost 80 percent complete.

Corn maturity in the state is about 10 percentage points behind average.

The fourth cutting of alfalfa is 42 percent complete while the third-cutting is nearly finished at 90 percent.

Sorghum harvest is nine percent done – well below the average and sunflower harvest is just three-percent complete.
