Sec. Rollins, ethanol industry express need for E15 year-round

Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says the Trump administration remains committed to finding a permanent solution for year-round E15.

“What our farmers and ranchers stand for is how we truly save the future of the country,” Rollins said. “We do believe that E15 is a big part of that. We’re working day in and day out, not just across the Executive Branch, but obviously in the Legislative Branch too to ensure that we can do just that.”

Rollins says E15 fuel blends provide benefits to farmers, consumers, and the country. “The importance of ethanol is a lot more than just bringing down greenhouse gases,” Rollins said. “It’s about energy diversity and ensuring we have energy independence.”

Nick Bowdish, President and CEO of Elite Octane, a southwest-Iowa based ethanol plant, says the biofuels industry is bullish on the future of E15. “With E15, not only the legislative fix, but deeming all the infrastructure at these retailers to be compatible for E15 – combined with a strong RFS and RVO standards for our soybean growers – this administration has the farmer’s back.”

Bowdish says he believes the next three years will be a critical timeframe in the ethanol industry’s history.

Secretary Rollins and Bowdish spoke to reporters following a recent tour of Elite Octane in Atlantic, Iowa.
