Secretary Rollins on USDA’s reorganization plans
Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says the reorganization of the USDA will help provide necessary resources for America’s farmers and ranchers.
“This was always President Trump’s big vision of getting rid of the bureaucracy and working to put resources really where they are needed the most,” she says. “To the people that were serving where needed, especially in our world, for farmers and ranchers.”
She tells Brownfield the relocation plans are already in motion.
“We now begin the process with Congress on the Hill, but we’ve already done a lot of the preliminary steps,” she says. “I would say by the end of the year, you’ll begin to see a lot of our HQ and staff begin to move into the heart of America as we begin to shut down office space in Washington, DC.”
The department will move into to five hub locations in Raleigh, North Carolina, Kansas City, Missouri, Indianapolis, Indiana, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Rollins says the reorganization is designed to ensure the size of its workforce aligns with financial resources, bring the department closer to farmers, eliminate management layers and bureaucracy, and consolidate support functions.
During a recent Senate Ag Committee hearing, Deputy Undersecretary Stephen Vaden says reorganization efforts will occur in phases and the department’s move is based on input from current employees.

She is so full of crap. Thousands of people losing their jobs and homes because of her and the administration. No one has talked to the federal employees that have been so stressed because of this. Employees doing their job plus 3 or 4 other jobs with no more pay. Employees being told that they’re job is being relocated and the job description will be revised at a lower pay grade. Not to mention no relocation expenses from the agency. Employees can’t just pick up and move. That is what they are betting on. I have 15 years of experience but no one cares.
