Secretary Rollins says administration remains focused on trade
Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says the Trump administration remains focused on increasing market access for U.S. agricultural goods.
“The markets are there, we just have to fight for them and make sure that we’re getting our own farmers and ranchers and the great products we produce into those markets,” she says. “We’ll have more trade deals announced very, very soon, and no one will benefit more from the president’s vision on this than our ag community.”
Since her confirmation, the Secretary has participated in trade missions to the United Kingdom and Italy, and has trips scheduled to India, Vietnam, and Japan.
During a news conference last week, President Trump said the U.S. has reached an agreement with China amid efforts to end the trade dispute between the two countries.
Rollins tells Brownfield, “The details on that will be released very soon.” She says the timing of the details is uncertain. “But I think that again, it’s going to be another big win, especially for our row croppers.”
On Friday, Chinese officials confirmed that the two countries have reached an understanding on the framework as a result of the talks earlier this month in London.
